Automated valves connect mechanical flow control with a plant or building control system. Correct actuator sizing requires more than matching the valve diameter: operating torque, differential pressure, cycle frequency, fail position, power or air supply and environmental protection must all be considered.
Electric actuation
Electric actuators are commonly used where electrical power and remote position control are available. Buyers should specify voltage, control signal, enclosure rating, limit switches, local override and feedback requirements.
Pneumatic actuation
Pneumatic actuators provide fast cycling and can be configured as double acting or spring return. Solenoid valves, positioners, air preparation and accessory voltages should be included in the technical schedule.
