Electric Actuated Butterfly Valves: Specification Guide

Key engineering inputs for specifying electric actuated butterfly valves for on/off and modulating service.

Electric Actuated Butterfly Valves: Specification Guide

An electric actuator must be sized as part of the valve package. Output torque, duty cycle, enclosure, controls and travel time must all match the actual service.

Torque sizing

Use maximum differential pressure and valve seating torque with an appropriate service factor.

Electrical supply

Confirm voltage, phase, frequency, permissible current and local isolation requirements.

Control duty

Define on/off or modulating service, input signal, feedback, starts per hour and required positioning accuracy.

Environment

Specify ambient temperature, weather protection, corrosion conditions and hazardous-area classification where applicable.

Information to include with an enquiry

Provide nominal size, pressure rating, medium, temperature, connection standard, materials, operating method, required testing and project documentation. Greysen will review the duty and confirm the final configuration in the approved data sheet.
